CTET 2026 Eligibility
The eligibility criteria vary slightly depending on whether the candidate wishes to teach classes I-V (Paper I) or VI-VIII (Paper II). Here’s a detailed look at the eligibility requirements for both stages:
CTET Paper 1 (Classes I–V)
Candidates must have:
- Completed their Senior Secondary (10+2) with at least 50% marks, and
- Passed or be enrolled in a 2-year D.El.Ed (Diploma in Elementary Education) program.
CTET Paper 2 (Classes VI–VIII)
Candidates must have:
- A Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university, and
- Completed or appeared in a B.Ed program with at least 50% mark
CTET Certificate Validity
As of the latest update from the CBSE, the validity of the CTET certificate has been extended to a lifetime. Before this update, the certificate had a validity period of 7 years from the date of declaration of its result for all categories.
CTET Qualifying Marks
- General Category: Candidates belonging to the general category must score at least 60% marks or more, which translates to 90 out of 150 marks.
- SC/ST/OBC/Other Reserved Categories: The qualifying marks for candidates belonging to SC, ST, OBC, and other reserved categories are relaxed per the government’s reservation policy. Typically, these candidates must score 55% marks, equivalent to 82.5 out of 150 marks, to qualify for the CTET.

CTET 2026 Exam Pattern
The Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) will consist of two papers.
