CTET Notification 2024

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) in India administers the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET), a nationwide test. The project seeks to provide consistent requirements for applicants hoping to work as teachers at central government establishments that accept the CTET credential, such as Kendriya Vidyalayas and Navodaya Vidyalayas. Many governments and private institutions use CTET as a standard requirement for hiring teachers.

The CBSE released a CTET July Notification on 07 March 2024. Aspirants can submit their applications for the examination through the official website of CTET at ctet.nic.in from 07 March onwards. The deadline for submitting online applications is April 2, 2024.

CTET Exam Date 2024 Overview

The CTET 2024 notification for the July session was released on March 5th, 2024, along with the commencement of the CTET application process.  The CTET exam for Paper 1 is scheduled for July 7th, 2024. The answer key will be published after the exam, and results are expected tentatively by the end of August 2024. CTET Exam Date 2024 Important Dates

The Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) will be conducted on 7th July 2024, in two shifts. The first shift will be from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM and the second shift will be from 9:30 AM to 12:00 PM. The exam will consist of two papers, each with 150 questions.

CTET Exam Date 2024 Eligibility

The eligibility criteria vary slightly depending on whether the candidate wishes to teach classes I-V (Paper I) or VI-VIII (Paper II). Here’s a detailed look at the eligibility requirements for both stages:

For Classes I-V (Paper I):

  • Candidates must have passed Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and completed or be in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed).
  • Or candidates with at least 50% in Senior Secondary and the final year of a 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed) or a 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education).

For Classes VI-VIII (Paper II):

  • Graduates who have completed or are in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed) are eligible.
  • Or, Graduates with at least 50% marks and in the first year of Bachelor in Education (B.Ed) or candidates with 50% in Senior Secondary and the final year of a 4-year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed) or 4-year B.A/B.Sc.Ed or B.A.Ed/B.Sc.Ed.

CTET Certificate Validity

As of the latest update from the CBSE, The validity of the CTET certificate has been extended to a lifetime. Before this update, the certificate had a validity period of 7 years from the date of declaration of its result for all categories.

CTET Qualifying Marks

  • General Category: Candidates belonging to the general category must score at least 60% marks or more, which translates to 90 out of 150 marks.
  • SC/ST/OBC/Other Reserved Categories: The qualifying marks for candidates belonging to SC, ST, OBC, and other reserved categories are relaxed per the government’s reservation policy. Typically, these candidates must score 55% marks, equivalent to 82.5 out of 150 marks, to qualify for the CTET.

CTET Exam Pattern 2024

The Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) will consist of two papers.
